Devil Horns 008: What’s Up With The Music Industry?

feature-devilhorns-episode008

Midnight Corey and New Jersey Nick shoot from the hip this time, speaking their minds about the crazy goings-on in the world of metal. As always, they’re especially critical of the music industry and Metallica. But they also bring up new developments with bands like Bleeding Through and AEON, as well as Orgy’s crash-and-burn Indiegogo campaign.

Mike Zombie will be with us next time, and was totally missed.

Yeah… no (kidding, Nick). Great episode as always.

I tend to not give a damn what anyone from Metallica says, because they’re all a bunch of rich snobs who don’t understand what it’s like to be a small band that actually has to work hard to get by. Hammett and Ulrich in particular can go fuck themselves with a 2×4.

I agree totally on Green Day. I used to be a huge fan, but when the American Idiot album came out, every single song sounded the same, and it was clearly just to sell as many albums as possible. The difference before that album and after is incredible.

As for recommending bands to talk about, you guys are doing a wicked job of keeping things fresh, and have been turning me onto a lot of bands I didn’t really care to check out before, even if they are “mainstream”. I might come off as a fanboy given I comment on every damn episode, but truly I love this podcast and can’t wait for the next episode to come by. It’s a breath of fresh air. \m/

Hey guys, been listening to your show for awhile and I have to say I pretty much agree with you on almost every topic you guys have had! Especially with Metallica! It fucking breaks my heart that they are so out of touch with reality! That much was obvious after that fucking debacle of a movie they did a few years ago for their St. Anger monstrosity ! To answer the question on the “What happened to Metallica?” podcast, it’s really simple for me: Cliff Burton died. Not to take anything away from Jason Newstead because I was a fan of his when he was part of Flotsam & Jetsam, but I really just can’t believe that the late great Cliff Burton would have stood for the shit that came out after “And Justice for All”. I’ve been pissed at these guys since the fuckin lame-ass Black Album and it’s just been a continuous decline ever since! Anyway that’s just my 2 cents. Anyway keep up the good work and stay metal! \m/
